It's also cheaper this way. No expensive futuristic sets. Of course, someone tries to botch the scientists attempt to save the world.
The story is filled with details like biowarfare, overpopulation, infertility, etc. The identity of the spy is repeatedly changed by the scientists, who keep referring to these new virtual personalities of his as a MATRIX!
Keanu Reeves has information implanted in his brain which has a chip that could cure NAS. Keanu got this implanted info in Beijing and he only has 24 hours to bring the vital info to the scientists in the US.
And the action in both stories are governed by some sort of limited timeline. While watching the film, I had a vivid sense of deja vu. The whole idea of advanced technology capable of controlling memories, and the "reality vs virtual reality" aspect seen in PROJECT X are the basic ingredients of the whole cyberpunk genre.

Die tijd ligt achter me, maar door dit soort films wordt de nostalgie weer opgewekt. Helemaal door de clipvideo achtige filmstijl en dito muziek.
Duurt eigenlijk te kort en het einde is iets minder, maar is toch zijn beste in het soort. Heerlijke film. Ik weet nog goed de hype rond deze film.
Toen de film gedaan was hadden ik en wat vrienden meteen zin om te gaan feesten. Ik weet ook nog dat iemand die ken ook zo een feest wou organiseren, maar dat de gemeente en de politie dit te weten kwamen en dat het feest zo niet door kan gaan.
Ik dacht ook dat zo een feestje in Nederland volledig uit de hand is gelopen en dat het daarom zo controversieel was.
In ieder geval een heel vermakelijke film die zeker geen oscar verdient ofzo, maar in zijn genre gewoon top is. Lol, lachen en af en toe een beetje schrikken.
De tijd van zwaar feesten ligt voor mij gelukkig ook wat achter mij. Liep af en toe toch wat te veel uit de hand. Niet zoals in deze film, maar toch.
Misschien achter een paar jaar nog eens kijken als ik wat ouder ben. Redelijk amusant. Het feestje zelf vond ik eerder een muffe bedoening.
Typisch Amerikaans college gedoe met veel drank uit plastic bekertjes, dwaas volk en flauwe muziekjes.
Anderzijds is het wel al iets dat we in dit nieuwe millennium een film als deze hebben, hoeven we niet meer naar 80s meuk ala Ferris Bueller te verwijzen.
Het wordt pas echt leuk wanneer het feestje compleet ontspoort en de film het realisme compleet achter zich laat.
Vooral die gast met de flamethrower is hilarisch. Jammer genoeg is dit al redelijk dicht tegen het einde aan.
Het geeft de film nog wel een extra boost, maar het einde is toch net wat te kort voor een echt hoge score. In dat opzicht is dit gewoon een erg slim en goed uitgevoerd filmpje.
De docu-stijl past hier ook gewoon erg goed, waardoor het net allemaal iets intenser wordt. En dan is het jammer genoeg ook zo weer gedaan.
Aardig filmpje. De film komt erg traag en matig op gang. Maar zodra het buurtfeest begint zitten er leuke stukken bij.

Om te beginnen vond ik dit een van de betere found footage films die ik heb gezien. Of found footage, het amateuristisch bewegen van de camera.
Want ik heb zo'n idee dat dit niet zo zeer een echte found footage film is. Found footage is totaal niet mijn genre, al hoewel ik ze soms dan wel goed vind.
Het karakter van Cooper, dat ik overigens een heel lollig knaapje vind, maakte me vaak aan het lachen.
De hele film door is gevuld met goede muziek, bikini's en lol. En dan zit er opeens een over de top keerpunt in. Soms gaat de film een beetje vervelen en dan is het wachten op een goede scene maar gelukkig waren die er best vaak.
De grote dosis humor die hierin zat maakte deze film geslaagd bij mij. Nooit verwacht dat dit zo'n leuke film is. Gebeurt niet vaak dat een feest zo dynamisch in beeld wordt gebracht, laat staan de daarop volgende chaos.
Erg leuke humor ook, veel mooie dames en inderdaad een zeer fijne soundtrack, inclusief Metallica's Battery tijdens het hoogtepunt van het geweld.
