This is a movie that is about friends that are terrorized while they are video chatting on Skype by what they think is a internet troll but it is actually the spirit a fellow classmate of theirs that they had humiliated by means of a posted video,the spirit gets it revenge in a horrible way that the friends never expected.

This is not the case at all. It seems like a very complicated procedure to string together with a lot of attention to detail with good acting from the participants within the constraints of the filming techniques employed.

I thought it was creepy in parts, was interested in where it was going and worked effectively as a horror with its limited blood letting and hazy imaging at various points.
There will be a hell of a lot of snobbery from some within the horror community about films such as this but it's the first time I've ever seen a film that solely employs this technique and I think it pulled it off very well indeed.
An unusual and clever concept as the film is almost entirely shown from the perspective of looking at a computer screen as five friends share a video chat.
They then find themselves plagued by an unknown 'addition' to their online chat - and whom they cannot remove. This - it turns out - is the anniversary of a girl who killed herself exactly one year previous.
Not to give anything away, but I think you get the idea from this. But, seriously, just be aware of that before viewing. This is a great film and full of scares and suspense.

Well I guess it was only a matter of time before the Internet got haunted too. Unfriended is a curious little experiment in putting together a slightly different horror film - it's not always entirely successful but is worth a watch.
The entire film takes place within the confines of an online video chat between a group of friends young good looking Americans, you know the drill.
All we see is the screen that one of the characters is looking at and the various websites, videos etc that she sees before her.
The plot is a bit more generic - revolving around the suicide that was filmed obviously of a classmate of these guys.
Someone suddenly infiltrates the online chat using the profile of the dead girl. Chaos and horror ensue. Well kind of. It's not actually particularly scary at all but the novel approach to the storytelling keeps it interesting and reasonably fun.
It's all utterly ridiculous of course but at least it's a bit different and has a certain entertainment value in its own way. Report abuse.
As there were no actor names on the front cover, I wasn't expecting this to be of high quality. The best way to describe it is a mashup.
It is like The Chatroom with a web cam added. It is like Eye in the Sky except with multiple cameras and the dilemma being which friend would harmed next.
It is the Blair Witch Project, but with web cams. The plot is essentially how many friends will be unfriended through being harmed live on web cam and in what order it will happen.
The film starts off with a story of a teen suicide and the way this is interwoven with a truth or dare web cam expose and ultimately a massacre is quite interesting.
I found the film The Chatroom difficult to watch as it was just text, so the addition of a web cam into this story makes it much more engaging.
This is basically a found footage film, only on webcams, a nice idea, but like so many found footage films it is rubbish.

I have not been so completely engrossed in a movie since Time Crimes. Here's an example of how great the movie was. You experience the tension of Blaire the main character thinking in a way that has never been shown on film before, and it could ONLY be done in this format.
She would try to figure out the right thing to say to the "ghost," and she would type something, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, then she would back up and say something else, and it actually showed us what she was going through in a way that has never been seen before.
As I said, the brilliance of this movie is about eight miles over the heads of most people on here. I appreciate that an effort was made to take a unique approach, but the end result is rather anemic, a gimmick with no teeth.
The narrative is thin, but the movie does well in keeping the truth hidden and possibilities open, which helps a lot.
I suppose a more interesting, dynamic narrative could make this kind of concept work better, but I found it to be a forgettable movie with a new spin on found footage, little else.
The tension is minimal, thanks to melodramatic performances and the abundance of jump scares, while the anti-bullying rhetoric is glossed over and feels like an afterthought.
I do think some burden rests on the lackluster premise and script, but sometimes a good cast can make lemons out of bad found footage material.

I was very pleasantly surprised. I agree that it adds to the overall feel and "atmosphere" of the movie if you watch it on your computer.

If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, avoid this at all costs. It takes something special to pull off a movie like this and while this is far from a perfect movie, it kept me entertained.
